Today at Harlequin Nursery we built our very own wormery.
The children helped build the structure following the photos on the instruction sheet. First we had to screw the top and bottom together, add newspaper and break up the soil before adding the worms.
The children held the worms and felt them slither around in the palms of their hands before very carefully adding them to the compost heap. The children sat, listened and learnt about what sorts of food we can add to the wormery and how we hope to produce some good quality compost and liquid fruit feed!
At the mark making table we looked at real photos of close up worms and drew our own.
