The Portland House preschool children have enjoyed taking part in science activities to celebrate World Science Day.
After learning about the important job our heart does pumping the blood around our body we made a pumping heart model using recycled materials including straws and balloons.
The children were able to locate their own hearts inside their chests by placing their hands on them and feeling their heartbeats, these were slowing when we had been resting and got quicker when we had exercised. The children talked about the importance of keeping our hearts healthy by doing exercises and eating healthy food.
