This week the Fairfield children have been learning all about our senses to raise awareness of communication for people with sight impairments. The toddlers and preschool children have been using a variety of their senses to describe objects, find their way around obstacle courses and have been reading all about ‘The short-sighted Giraffe’ and what it means to need to wear glasses.
Toddlers looked for animal objects in the straw and hay, we had to find the animals and say the noise, we talked about where they lived and what their baby animals are called, followed by lots of singing “Old MacDonald had a farm”
Preschool used their descriptive language to tell a grown up what they could feel when exploring a variety of objects, we used lots of adjectives and the children were delighted when they guessed correctly.
