Holly Bank Nursery was buzzing with excitement as we embraced the joy of reading and storytelling on World Book Day. It was a day full of imagination, creativity, and, of course, our favourite books!
A big thank you to all the staff who made a special effort to dress up—creating so much excitement and energy for the children. The little ones loved seeing their grown-ups dressed as characters from beloved stories, and it added even more magic to the day! The children came dressed as their favourite characters too, ranging from superheroes and princesses to pirates and animals. They looked absolutely fantastic, and their enthusiasm for books was clearly evident in every costume.
Throughout the day, we shared stories, both old favourites and exciting new adventures. The children enjoyed interactive story sessions, where they could help bring the story to life by acting out parts, making animal sounds, and even guessing what would happen next! It was a fantastic way to engage their imaginations and help develop their listening and communication skills.
In addition to Storytime, we encouraged the children to share their favourite books with their friends. It was heart warming to see them excitedly talking about the characters, places, and adventures they love most in their stories. We also created a cosy reading corner where the children could snuggle up with a book and enjoy a quiet moment exploring the stories on their own.
The fun didn’t stop there! The children had a blast with book-themed tuff trays in each room. It was a creative way to explore stories through sensory play, and they loved getting their hands involved as they interacted with different story elements in a hands-on way.
World Book Day was the perfect opportunity to celebrate the magic of reading and inspire a love for books in our little ones. Thank you for helping to make this day so special—whether by dressing up, bringing in books, or supporting your child’s love of reading at home!
