Happy World Book Day! To celebrate World book day, Our nurseries have today been transformed into a colourful fun filled day with an amazing array of special visitors as the children and staff all came through the nursery doors today dressed from characters in books.
Our visitors consisted of Gruffalo’s, Mr Men characters, Hungry caterpillars Nursery Rhyme characters, Superheroes, Disney Princesses, and many more …see who you can spot in the photos.
The children took great delight in reading stories throughout the day some of which they had brought in from home to share with their friends, telling stories from memory and also acting them out.
We love reading stories in Spanish and today in our Spanish session Amy focussed on one of our favourites- the Gruffalo (El grúfalo). We learnt the name of the animals in the story and made lots of animal sounds to match them. We enjoyed pretending we were the different animals and especially liked roaring like a Gruffalo! We sat beautifully to listen to the full story of the grúfalo in Spanish - the descriptions of the grúfalo were really funny such as ‘rodillas huesudas y rugosas’ (bony and rough knees) and ‘garras terribles’(terrible claws) and then we ended our Spanish World Book Day celebration with a lovely calm rendition of Twinkle twinkle little star.
Throughout the day there were a multitude of activities centred on our favourite books, bringing experiences and characters to life whilst participating in both their indoor and outdoor learning experiences.
The children will be excited to enjoy sharing their tales and adventures of today, perhaps at a story telling session tonight at home as they snuggle up with their parents for bedtime stories. We would love for you to share some photos on your child’s I connect of experiences of sharing the love of books at home with their family members.
