Portland House Poppies have recently been exploring the colder weather that we have been experiencing. Some of the children were very intrigued when we found some ice that had frozen overnight in our mud kitchen, we discussed all about how it had got there and that it has been so cold that the water has frozen and turned into ice. The children each took it in turns to have a go at hitting the ice using different sizes of spoons to see what happens and how we can break it all up.
The children have been playing outside in the snow making their own snow angels, catching the snow in their hands and exploring their own and their friend’s footprints they have made on the floor in the snow. We have continued this interest inside as well by creating a snowy sensory tray with the artic animals for the children to explore and play in.
