Oakwood House Forest School will be launching a new project this year, an outdoor learning eco hut within the nursery grounds 'Project Horse Chestnut'
Samantha Richmond the manager at Oakwood explains " We have always wanted to set up an outdoor eco hut for the children so they can experience a new learning environment. Recently we had to say goodbye to one of our oldest trees, a beautiful old Horse Chestnut, the tree had unfortunately died."
"To turn this into a positive we thought this would be a great place for our outdoor eco hut with part of the old trunk at its centerpiece. We will be using as much of the reclaimed bark and branches as possible to build the shelter and hope this will bring exciting learning opportunities for all the children. We will be involving parents, staff, children and friends in the build over the coming months."
