PORTLAND NURSERIES THANK NURSERY MANAGER JULIE LISTER FOR HER TWENTY YEARS CONTRIBUTION TO OUTSTANDING CHILDCARE!
Staff and children gathered today to congratulate nursery manager Julie Lister for her twenty year contribution to making Portland Nurseries “Outstanding”. Julie is the second employee at Portland Nurseries to have worked for the company for twenty years. Julie was presented with a beautiful bouquet of flowers, a cheque, a company Holiday Voucher, and a meal four two at local Lindley restaurant Eric’s. Staff receive a five day holiday voucher for every five years of service and this will mean that Julie has been rewarded with and extra twenty days holiday over her time with the nurseries.
Julie joined the Portland Nurseries team 20 years ago on 10th July as the senior of the baby room at Portland House, which she led 6 years before becoming the Manager. Julie has experience working across all age groups 0-11 years and has had two children of her own while working for the company. In 2007 she began studying for her degree in Childcare Management and then on to the Early Years Teacher Status, whilst working full time managing the nursery. As one of the two senior managers in the company a large part of her time is spent using her great knowledge and sympathetic ear to support staff, parents and children across the nurseries.
There will be hundreds of families in the Huddersfield area that will recall with affection how their children blossomed under her care and went on to school and further education as confident individuals. In this rapidly expanding sector it is now unusual to find people working for the same company for such a long time. However, Portland Nurseries, who recently received the Investors in People Accreditation for the 16th year, offer exceptional training opportunities, good career progression and reward staff for their loyalty.
Over the years Julie has received many wonderful comments, both personally and those about the fantastic care the nursery provides under her management. Portland House achieved ‘Outstanding’ in their last Ofsted inspection with the inspector commenting that the nursery provides an “Extremely inclusive environment in which to care for the children” and commended them “for the exceptional high standard of assessment and monitoring of each child’s learning and development needs.”
Rosemary Murphy OBE, founder and Managing Director of the company said: “Julie’s vast experience and real caring professionalism has made her a key member of the Portland Nurseries team. She is recognised by everyone as a wonderful and skilled practitioner and manager, with the ability to support other staff and lead by example. She is an asset to the company and we hope she stays with us for many years to come!”
