The children at Bradley House enjoyed a wonderful ‘International Tea Day’ filled with discovery, creativity, and lots of tasty experiences. Throughout the day, the children explored where tea comes from and learned new words including infuse and infusion as they experimented with different ingredients and flavours. The children became little scientists as they created their very own potions by infusing herbal tea bags in water. They watched carefully as the water changed colour and discovered how different teas created different smells and shades.
Out in the garden, the children picked fresh mint leaves to make their own mint tea, which they enjoyed trying at snack time. They were excited to smell the fresh mint and learn how plants can be used to make delicious drinks. At mealtime, everyone enjoyed a tasty slice of tea loaf specially baked by our cook, which was a lovely treat linked to the day’s celebrations. The learning continued outdoors where the children used natural materials in the mud kitchen and potion station to create their own imaginative teas and mixtures. Using leaves, petals, herbs, and water, they explored mixing, pouring, and experimenting while developing their creativity and communication skills. It was a fun-filled day of hands-on learning, sensory exploration, and exciting new vocabulary as the children celebrated International Tea Day together.
