Sunny Day Experiments!

As the weather gets warmer the children at Fairfield have been making the most of being outdoors exploring in the garden. We have been using our love for STEAM when creating large bubbles in the tuff tray, the children had to problem solve when working through the correct mixture, we used different objects to see what could make the bubble. The children showed will and determination as they tried to make the bubble as wide as the tuff tray.

We have used the sunshine to learn cause and effect when exploring ice in the water tray, babies have been using cause and effect as they watched the ice move around the tray and having to concentrate on their hand eye coordination when trying to grasp the slippery ice. Preschool and toddlers have watched as the temperature got warmer and the ice started to melt, we realised ice on the mud kitchen lasted longer than by the story telling bench as it melted quickly.

Our love for number is blossoming like the flowers in the sensory garden, as we watch them grow we have been busy creating our own flowers, using our interest of numbers, colours and living things, perfecting our fine motor skills and describing what we already know and what we have learnt about flowers.
