Today the Oakwood babies have been exploring through touch, we created a lifelike sensory walk through so the babies could experience different textures you'd find on the farm.
After a lovely story called "Old McDonald Had A Farm" the babies were invited to step into the tuff tray and walk through the different textures and feel them on their feet, we had mud to represent where the pigs live, grass to represent the fields where the sheep live, feathers to represent the chickens home, sand for where the horses trot and our very own duck pond to finish. The babies loved exploring both with their feet and hands and as we stepped through each texture we spoke about what we could feel "soft" "wet" " squelchy" and spoke about the animals as a group.
