School Council Litter picking!

The Portland House School Council met at the beginning of March to start their spring clean-up task as the car park was full of litter. Firstly they got together to make a plan of action, sharing ideas before they tackled the mess.

As they entered the car park Martha and Oscar talked about how to make the area safe. They made a plan to close the big gate to keep out the traffic so everyone remained safe, Muhammad had the important job of checking to ensure it was closed and did an excellent job. When the area was agreed to be safe, the council started their task using the litter picker tools to remove the rubbish from underneath the bushes. They identified a bit of a problem at one side of the car park as they struggled to reach the rubbish! They discussed how they could reach to the back of the bushes and decided to ask for some longer handled pickers. When they had finished their task the bucket was practically full and went into the rubbish bin ready to be collected and start its waste disposal journey.

The area looked a lot better once it had been de cluttered from the litter and they proudly walked back to preschool. A Job well done preschool Council.
