Recycling Our Christmas Cards

This week in Holly Bank preschool, the children have been busy recycling our old Christmas cards in a creative and meaningful way!

They enjoyed carefully snipping the cards into smaller pieces, practising their scissor skills and strengthening their hand and gross motor muscles. Cutting helps develop control, coordination and confidence. As they worked, the children talked about the different colours, shapes, sizes and festive pictures they could see. They shared ideas with each other, extending their vocabulary and communication skills.

Using their cut-out pieces, the children made beautiful collage pictures. Each one was unique, colourful and full of imagination!

This activity linked beautifully with our Eco-Schools ethos — encouraging children to reuse and repurpose materials, think about waste and be creative with resources. Through this simple but powerful activity, children are learning that small actions like recycling can help care for our planet.

Thank you for supporting our Eco-Schools values at home too! ♻️💚
