Pre-school Get Physical

P E Lessons

In preparation for preparing the children for their transition to school this summer we have been taking part in our very own P.E. lessons at pre-school. The children have been learning all about what they will do at P.E. lessons when they go to school and talking about why it is important for us to have regular exercise.

We have played different kinds of music to do simple gentle exercise together, and then talked about the effects it has on our bodies. “My heart is not really beating faster, I think I should be quicker!” Oscar aged 3. We then got into teams and enjoyed ‘team races’ using bean bags to practice our throwing and catching skills and our legs to practice our running, jumping and hopping skills.

The pre-school children have recently been working on their balancing skills during their lessons using toddle boxes as ‘beams’.

We can’t wait for our PE bags to arrive so we can begin to perfect our independence in getting ourselves dressed and undressed just like we will at school.
