Police Visit

The Portland House preschool children were delighted when one of the children’s parents came to talk to them about his important job in the Manchester Metropolitan police force. David kindly brought along one of his colleagues and drove his police car all the way from Manchester for us to see.

We all very much enjoyed looking at the big police car in our carpark and talked about the colours, letters and number we could see on the registration plate. We listened to the noise of the bull horn siren which they sound when they are travelling in an emergency and even got to try out the seats inside too.

David talked to the children all about his police uniform how it keeps him safe and we looked at some of the special equipment he uses such as torches and radios, one of the children asked if he had a taser in his holster. He brought along some uniform for the children to try on such as jackets, high viz vests and 3 different types of hats that the police officers wear during their different roles and events. You can see the children wearing these outfits and a great fun learning session was had by all!
