Pancake Day Fun!

In preparation for Pancake Day the children in the Portland House Poppy room have been learning about pancakes. First we made our own pancake play dough, we talked about the ingredients we needed to use and each took it in turns to have a go at pouring and stirring them together in our big bowl and then we added some colouring and made it lime scented.

The children enjoyed getting themselves dressed up as little chefs before using a variety of different tools and utensils including bowls, spoons, pans, sieves, wooden pretend knives, rolling pins, spatula and whisks to make their own pancakes. We all enjoyed discussing what we like to have on our pancakes at home building on lots of different language.

During the activity we have been using some new key words all to do with pancake day including 'flip' 'flour' 'mix' 'stir' 'roll' ‘sprinkle’ ‘shake’ ‘pour’.
