Holly Bank would like to thank all our parents that joined us for our "Out of this World" toddler Stay and Play session. We read lots of books about Astronauts, Aliens and different planets. Our tray was filled with different textures such as foil, sequin stars and shiny foam. We created lots of different moons and stars with playdough and talked about them coming out at night. We finished the session by singing "Five Little Men in a Flying Saucer" using the finger puppets to count down from five to one.
The babies have enjoyed using the Twinkle twinkle story sack where we have been learning the different Makaton signs/actions. We enjoyed using the star finger puppets too and enhancing the activity with star LED lights. We have been using the torches to shine in the sensory pebbles to look at our reflections because we all are out of this world in our own unique way! We collected snow in our silver sensory tray and pretended it was moon dust, we used different silver utensils to mix and scoop up the dust and explore the texture. In the garden we did some yoga and made star shapes with our bodies on the ground by stretching out our arms and legs. We looked up at the sky to see if we could see any stars or the moon but they weren't playing out. We explored ice and used different utensils to tap the ice to try rescue the stars that were trapped in the ice. We explored the texture of the ice with our hands and fingers and introduced vocabulary such as "wet" "cold" "slippy" "icy" "melting".
The Preschool children used the different resources to create their very own rocket!
We learnt about the different planets and talked about the planet we live on. As well as singing space songs and rhymes.
We enjoyed exploring the sparkly water, looking for planets and stars in the sand, and we even enjoyed exploring with the torches in the dark.
