At Fairfield this week we have been blasting off into space and learning all about the galaxy. We have had a variety of different activities for the babies, toddlers and preschool children to participate in and deepen their understanding about space and building on what they already know. We have been reading “Aliens love underpants” book, recognising different patterns and colours. We have used our whole bodies when moving in time to music, dancing like an alien.
Preschool have enjoyed making fizzing planets as part of a STEM activity in the focus room, encouraging them to make predictions and watching chemical reactions. Our children have been making name rockets, recognising the letters that make up our names, saying the initial sounds and putting the letters in the correct sequence.
Babies have used their senses to explore the universe, they have made marks using their whole bodies and have been practising their motor skills and hand eye coordination when playing with the planets in the water tray.
Thank you to everyone that came to our Stay and Play events, we had a fabulous time, dressing up in our space suits we had made and playing lots of fun games together.
