Nursery staff honoured with awards

On Friday 22nd November we held our Annual Review and Awards Evening with over 80 staff from the four nurseries in the group enjoying a celebratory evening at the YMCA, Huddersfield.

Rosemary Murphy OBE, the owner and managing director of the company, gave an overview of the previous year and reported that absences were down by half and over 85% of the childcare staff now hold a Level 3 qualification, with many of them going far beyond to achieve degrees.

The highlight of the evening is always the presentation of awards, where staff are recognised for all their hard work over the last year. Child Carer of the Year was awarded to Kiran Kaur at Portland House Nursery and Brook Evans at Oakwood House Nursery. These awards had been nominated by parents who voted and left heartfelt comments reflecting the importance of a close relationship between the child, the carer and the parents.

Rising Star was awarded to Emma Brougham at Harlequin Nursery for excelling in her practice and showing potential for a bright future. Best Team awards were given to the Toddler Room Team at Holly Bank Nursery and the Preschool team at Portland House Nursery as some parents found it too hard to pick just one great child carer!

One parent had written “She is so reassuring and patient. For a key person to tell you they love your child is wonderful and makes me as a parent trust and have full faith in her and the nursery. She is so passionate about developing children, helping them learn, play and grow in their personality. She is an asset to Portland House and she truly deserves this award.””.

Prizes were also given to staff that had achieved new qualifications, as well as those lucky enough to win the charity raffle which raised over £400 for The Forget Me Not Trust Hospice. A great night was had by all!
