National Walk Day

This week at Holly Bank we celebrated National Walk Day and focused on the importance of exploring our local area and enjoying the outdoors. The children talked about how walking helps to keep our bodies healthy and gives us opportunities to discover new places and learn about the world around us.

As part of our celebrations, the children visited Oakwood House Forest School, where they enjoyed spending time in nature and exploring the beautiful outdoor environment. The children were excited to play amongst the trees, plants, and natural surroundings while developing their curiosity and appreciation for the world around them. We squelched in the mud and went on a bear hunt, climbed the rope latter and swung in a real hammock.

During our visit, we also spent some quiet time in the Acorn Library reading beautiful stories about nature. The children listened carefully to stories about woodland animals, forests, and the changing seasons, helping to encourage a love of books, storytelling, and the natural world.

It was a wonderful experience that supported the children’s physical development, communication skills, and understanding of the environment through meaningful outdoor learning opportunities.
