National Storytelling Week has been full of imagination, creativity, and lots of lovely language across the nursery!
In the baby room, our little ones have been busy exploring activities inspired by our current favourite story, ‘That’s Not My Teddy’. We enjoyed a cosy, engaging story time together, encouraging early language development through repetition, descriptive words, and lots of expression. The babies then got creative making their very own textured bears, using a variety of materials to explore different sensations through touch – from soft and fluffy to bumpy and smooth – supporting their sensory development. Meanwhile, our toddlers brought stories to life outdoors by recreating favourites such as ‘We’re Going on a Bear Hunt’ and ‘The Gruffalo’ in the garden, using actions and role play to retell key events. Our preschool children impressed us by creating their own storyboards, sequencing events and developing their storytelling skills as they confidently shared their ideas with friends. It’s been a wonderful week celebrating stories, imagination, and a love of books across all age groups!
