National Storytelling Week

This week Oakwood House have embraced National Storytelling Week with a variety of engaging activities.

Our youngest children celebrated with 1-1, small group, and independent reading sessions, which helped them build relationships with staff and peers.

The babies practiced their fine motor skills by pointing and flipping pages, and enhanced their communication skills by copying and repeating their favourite animal noises.

Babies explored a sensory walk using their feet to explore the textures from the story " We're Going On A Bear Hunt" using foam for the mud, flour for the snowstorm, leaves for the woods and washed our feet in the river to finish.

The toddlers used their imagination during a ‘You Choose’ story session, read stories in the forest and chose reading stories independently.

The preschool children enjoyed acting out their favourite story, “The Hungry Caterpillar” using lots of mathematical language and predictions.

It was as a fun-filled week for everyone!
