Here at Holly Bank we had a paws-itively delightful time celebrating ‘Love Your Pet Day!’ It was a day filled with cuddles, giggles, and plenty of love for our furry friends (real or imagined). Here’s a peek at the fun our little ones had:
Circle time- Pet photos
We kicked off the day with circle time parents sent in photos of all the pets our children had at home. Sharing pictures and stories the children loved sharing funny stories with their peers.
Dear Zoo Themed Sensory tray
Next, we set up a sensory tray filled with animal figures from dear zoo. The children loved exploring the different zoo animals that had been sent for a pet. It was a sensory experience that not only sparked their imaginations but also helped with their fine motor skills as they manipulated the animals in the tray.
Playdough Pets
Our little ones got creative with some playdough, rolling, squashing, and shaping their own pet creations. Some made cute puppies, while others created their favourite zoo animals. It was a fun way to enhance their hand-eye coordination, all while getting a little messy!
Vets Role Play
To finish off the day, we set up a “vets” in pre-school where the children could feed and care for their pets, “wash” them, and even “walk” them around the room. This activity encouraged imaginative play and also helped the children practice important social skills like sharing and taking turns and introducing narrative into play.
Big Smiles and Lots of Love
It was a wonderful day filled with love, laughter, and plenty of furry friends. Our little ones loved showing how much they care for their pets and practiced being kind and gentle—qualities that will help them as they grow and interact with animals and others.
We’re so glad our children could celebrate Love Your Pet Day in such a playful, meaningful way!
