With spring upon us the Portland House Bluebell children have been exploring life cycles, they have been looking at the life cycle of a flower and what it needs to help it to grow, they had a chance to plant their own flower seeds and take them home to observe the growth and care for it.
Other life cycles we have been learning about include a frog, a caterpillar and a chicken, which we are very lucky to have the opportunity to observe closer within the Bluebell room. We now have our very own live caterpillars and chick eggs which have now hatched and we are delighted to have eight healthy baby chicks which the children have named, names include Sheila, Ellie fluffy. The children have helped to care for the chicks feeding them and giving them fresh water.
The children have also been taking full advantage of the fabulous outdoor area engaging in many activities such as, painting with natural objects, den building, creating the story of “goldilocks and the three bears” using our new mud kitchen and role playing as superhero’s and princesses.
