Today at Oakwood House in Forest School the children collected some sticks and started to form the first letter of their name. The outdoors is a uniquely effective space and the children are often observed talking more, cooperating, socialising, mark making and doing many literacy activities often through their own choice. They then went on to name animals that started with the letter they had made.
