At Bradley House Nursery, the children have been busy nurturing their very own vegetable patch in the nursery allotment. Over the past few months, the children have been learning how to plant seeds, water regularly, and care for growing plants — developing not only their understanding of nature but also a real sense of responsibility and pride. All their hard work paid off this week when the children excitedly discovered a giant courgette growing amongst the leaves! With eyes wide and hands ready, they carefully harvested the enormous vegetable, marvelling at its size. The children couldn't believe how something they planted from a tiny seed had grown so big. After admiring their harvest, the courgette was taken straight to the kitchen, where it became the star ingredient in the day’s lunch. The nursery cook added the freshly picked courgette to a warm vegetable pasta bake, allowing the children to enjoy the fruits of their labour in a healthy, homemade meal. This special moment was a brilliant opportunity to talk about healthy eating, seasonal produce, and where our food comes from. The children were so proud to see their courgette become part of their lunch — and many even asked for seconds!
