The babies at Holly Bank enjoyed their Christmas break but we were very happy to welcome them back to nursery, though we didn’t expect to welcome the snow too!!
It was a bit too cold and icy to venture outside so we collected some of the snow and ice from the garden and placed it in our investigation tray. The babies explored the texture of the frozen snow with their fingers which was very cold, so we added some spoons and other mixing tools so the children could grip the handles and try to smash the ice. We introduced descriptive language such as "cold" "ice" "white" "melting' and "drip, drip" to develop our communication and language skills.
