Holi Celebrations!

At Holly Bank the babies celebrated Holi the Festival of Colours by doing lots of activities relating to colour.

Outside in the garden we experimented with powder paint. The babies helped to mix powder paint and water in squeezy bottles and give them a good shake. This was a great way to help them develop their gross and fine motor skills. Then the children had a go at squeezing the bottles to create colourful patterns this time using their fine motor and hand-eye co-ordination skills to aim the bottles at the paper and use their fingers to squeeze out the paint.  We also introduced some descriptive language such as "squeeze", "hard", "press",“shake”, and “bubbles” for the babies to try to repeat.  We also created a sensory tray for the children to explore which was inspired by the colours of the rainbow, and we named each colour getting the children ready to recognise them.
