Today the Oakwood preschool children have been talking about the importance of washing our hands and all about germs. We talked about where germs are and how they can make us sick and how to get rid of them, by washing our hands with soap.
We enjoyed taking part in a germ science experiment with water, soap and pepper. We poured some water in a tray and said this was our hand. We then sprinkled the pepper onto the water to act as the germs we find on the floor or in the dirt. Finally we all dipped our fingers in the hand soap and then into the water. We watched, amazed, as the pepper ran away from our soapy fingers just like germs do when we use soap to wash our hands.
