Go Bananas

The children in the Bluebell room engaged in a morning of monkey mischief as they enjoyed having special friends which were cheeky chimps visiting bluebells today.

The children entertained toy monkeys at a chimps tea party. The mischievous monkeys devoured an assortment of banana delights that the children busily created at the play dough activity table such as banana sandwiches; banana bread, cakes, soup and even banana chips. IThe children were having so much fun that the activity captured their interest and attention over the entire morning session, encouraging learning and development at a high level across the EYFS. The imaginative role play in particular promoted social development and extended language skills as the children engaged in detailed conversations about what they had made for the chimps to eat and likes and dislikes. Other children just simply enjoyed a welcome cuddle from their furry friends.

The chimps particularly enjoyed listening to the songs and rhymes about monkeys, but their favourite song of all was the banana song. Everyone had a ‘funtastic’ time and the monkeys provided a ‘chimpian’ activity for all.
