Portland Nurseries group took part in Father’s Story week by inviting dads, granddads and father figures to their Stay and Play on Thursday 17th June.
Harlequin, Holly Bank and Portland House nurseries, put on various activities giving Fathers the fantastic opportunity to come and spend time den building, junk modeling and reading their favourite stories with their children and their friends, helping with their learning and development.
Charlie Rice of the Fatherhood Institute said: 'Evidence shows that children’s attainment benefits from having a father figure involved in their care, learning, development; taking an interest in their education and having a good connection with their early years setting.'
The nurseries worked in association with Kirklees Libraries giving out book start treasure chests to the children for them to enjoy at home with their families.
