During December at Portland House the children in Bluebells have had tremendous fun out and about within the community exploring different aspects of the festive period.
A couple of groups of children enjoyed the experience of catching a local bus to visit the garden centre where they saw lots of Christmas decorations and talked about why we might have these in our own homes and where we can put them. They selected some special decorations to bring back to nursery. Whilst Santa was away having a cup of tea the boys and girls had a sneaky peak around his grotto. They particularly thrilled to spend some time singing Christmas carols around his fireplace and looking at the nativity display about baby Jesus.
Some of the preschool children went on a mini coach to watch the pantomime Cinderella at the Victoria theatre and were joined by a couple of their toddler friends. We all had lots of fun and laughed lots at all the funny characters. We did lots of joining in and shouting ‘He’s behind you’ and cheered loudly when the glass slipper fit Cinderella. Upon our return the children had enjoyed this experience so much they couldn’t stop talking about it.
Fun club children and Bluebells brought festive cheer to the residents at Lindley Grange when they visited them on Monday 21st December to sing Christmas carols. We have since received a lovely ‘Thank you’ letter from them and we look forward to visiting them again very soon.
