Festive Fun!

The Oakwood toddlers have had a wonderful time getting into the festive spirit. They helped to decorate the Christmas tree in the main entrance using their fine motor skills to select and hang baubles. We have been making deconstructed snowmen talking about the fun we had outside when it snowed.

We created a Winter Wonderland using arctic animals, igloos and flour. The children loved creating storylines for them taking the animals for a ride on a winter sleigh. Our playdough table smelt delicious when the toddlers helped to make gingerbread playdough, we spent a long time making festive treats and using baking trays to cook them.

Outside we have been collecting sticks and using our imagination to create a fire, we pretended to toast marshmallows and make hot chocolate to keep warm. We have been on lots of reindeer hunts using the torches to look for him in the sky and in the trees. Of course we have been learning lots of new Christmas songs, our favourite ‘Christmas Pudding’, we have been learning the Makaton signs too and can’t wait to show them off at our Christmas Stay and Play.
