The Holly Bank children have been learning lots about Lohri today. The festival of Lohri is a celebration of the end of the darkness of winter and the start of brighter, longer days to come and is usually celebrated through the lighting of bonfires.
The babies explored the festival by painting their own bonfires using red, yellow and orange paint and we talked about how the fire keeps us warm. Then we used our pretend camp fire and some orange and red fabrics to create our own bonfire.
The preschool children sat around the pretend bonfire we had made and sang our favourite nursery rhymes and played the musical instruments.
