Environment Walk

The Bluebells at Holly Bank did an environment hunt in the preschool garden to see what they could discover.

They practised their phonics skills by listening carefully and trying to identify different sounds. Some of the things they heard included birds, a motorbike and even a tractor!

Identifying environmental sounds is a key part of phase 1 phonics which is focused on developing children’s listening skills.

During the hunt the children were also able to test their other senses by seeing what they could see, smell and feel (conifers, trees, branches, mud and grass)!
