The Harlequin preschool children have been developing their cutting skills! In cooking club this week, children were tasked to create fruit vehicles. We first modelled and discussed how to use a knife safely, discussing the potential hazards and steps we need to take to stay safe. The children then prepared their fruit by chopping them into a range of shapes, before attaching the pieces together using skewers to form cars, planes and motorcycles. We enjoyed creating our vehicles and loved eating them even more!
To celebrate Valentines Day the preschool made 'love bug' biscuits. We first had to prepare our ingredients, measuring them carefully and mixing them to form the dough. After the dough was made, we rolled it to the correct thickness and used a cookie cutter to cut out the biscuits. Then after baking in the oven, we decorated them using strawberries, blueberries and melted chocolate. The children were able to cut and arrange the fruit to create a ladybird which sat on top of our biscuits. The children then were able to take them home and give them to their loved ones.
