Community Spirit

The Portland House preschool children have had a busy few weeks enjoying delightful exciting experiences, meeting new people and learning about their roles within their local community. We had visitors from the College of Resurrection who once again joined us at nursery to sing Christmas carols at our Festive Stay and Play event.

Reverend Rachael from St Stephens’s church kindly visited the children at nursery and talked to them about her important job at the church and the upcoming Christian festival. The children told her all about the story of how baby Jesus was born and then later in the week they enjoyed a visit to look around the church.

The children delighted parents and family members with their festive nativity event at St Stephens’s Church on Monday 10th December which was a great success. The children told their story of a Christmas tale and together with parents and family members sang a variety of traditional and children’s carols. The event raised funds for our nominated charity in excess of £600.

Another highlight was our annual pantomime trip to the theatre to see this year’s performance of Aladdin, we had great fun shouting ‘he’s behind you’ and booing when the villain came on stage. We are now counting our sleeps to Christmas and are wishing for snow.
