Children’s Mental Health Week 2026

During February 2026, the Harlequin children enthusiastically took part in activities to celebrate Children’s Mental Health Week. Throughout the week, we focused on promoting wellbeing, relaxation and emotional awareness in age-appropriate ways. The children enjoyed calming foot spa experiences, gentle yoga sessions to support mindfulness and body awareness, access to quiet spaces for rest and reflection, and plenty of outdoor play to encourage physical activity and positive mood. These activities helped the children explore different ways to relax, regulate their emotions and understand the importance of looking after their mental health.

Teaching children ways to support their mental health from an early age is vital, as the foundations for emotional wellbeing are laid in the early years. When children are given opportunities to recognise and name their feelings, practise calming strategies and experience positive ways to manage big emotions, they begin to develop resilience, confidence and self-awareness. Embedding simple techniques such as breathing exercises, movement, sensory experiences and time in nature helps children understand that it is normal to have a range of emotions and that there are healthy ways to respond to them. By nurturing these skills early on, we empower children with lifelong tools to cope with challenges, build positive relationships and maintain good mental wellbeing as they grow
