Celebrating Yorkshire Day!

On Yorkshire Day, Bradley House Nursery was filled with laughter and excitement as the children prepared to celebrate all things Yorkshire. The day began with a fun baking activity. The little ones gathered around the science kitchen area to make Yorkshire rascals. With flour on their fingers and smiles on their faces, the children carefully helped mix the ingredients and shape the dough into little rounds. The warm, sweet smell of baking rascals soon spread through the nursery, making everyone hungry for a taste.

While the rascals baked, the children moved to the craft table to decorate their very own teapots. Using bright tissue paper and colourful crayons, they personalised their teapots with patterns, turning each one into a unique masterpiece. Next came a special tea-brewing session. With guidance, the children learned how to measure tea leaves and pour water carefully. This allowed the children to build on their patience as they waited for it to steep just right.

Finally, it was time to sample some traditional Yorkshire treats. The children enjoyed tasting warm Yorkshire puddings, sweet tea loaf slices studded with dried fruit, and tangy rhubarb crumble. Many giggled with delight as they tried the different flavours, with Yorkshire puddings becoming an instant favourite.

The nursery day ended with a joyful sing-along and the children proudly showed off their decorated teapots and freshly baked rascals. It was a wonderful day full of fun, learning, and celebration of Yorkshire’s rich heritage.
