Harlequin has been celebrating Chinese New Year in style! We started our celebrations with a Stay and Play where we made Chinese zodiac masks, tasted Chinese food using chopsticks and made Chinese red lanterns.
This year one of our children and his family when to Malaysia to celebrate New Year. William’s mum, Liane came in to talk about how Chinese New Year is celebrated and showed the children a real Chinese lantern, fire crackers and lantern garlands. Liane and William showed the children how to wish people a Happy New year in Mandarin and explained how children get a red envelope with money in! We listened to Chinese dragon music and Liane and William taught us how to sing “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” in Mandarin!
