For British Science Week our preschool children at Portland House have had such a great week celebrating Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics with lots of fun! We have been making volcanos out of play dough and we have looked at what happens when the preschool made the lava erupt! We have observed at how textures may change when mixed together and how fun can be exploring the different states of matter. We have learnt about the human body and how we are able to breath and eat. Our children put together a human body skeleton and we looked at the different organs, bones and blood vessels. We have observed microscopic parts using our microscopes and how much fun it was to see the things invisible at our eyes. We have looked into building a safe place for marine creatures and we have made our own “preservation centre.” We have talked about ocean pollution and what we can do to help sea life. We are all part of the same ecosystem. We have challenged our gross motor skills through big building and we have built slides and stations for the ball to roll on. We have looked at the sky and we have made our own International Space Station out of LEGOs.
Our children put a lot of effort and team work into these activities and they have showed us how there is a little scientist inside everyone, we have just to find it.
