In the Poppy room at Portland House we have introduced the children to our new furry friend which is a beat baby.
They have learned that although she is very friendly she can also be very shy too. The children enjoy it when she comes out to play and they all handle her with care and give her a cuddle.
Baby beat provides the opportunity to work one to one with a baby or small groups of toddlers and young children for short periods of adult initiated time. It provides a fun and enticing way to begin developing invaluable skills. We use the beat baby to tap out a simple beat and sing along with the beat baby raps, which allows the children to use big body movements.
One of their favourite raps so far is:
Marching, marching in a line
Marching, marching at the same time
Follow beat baby round and round,
Listen to your feet stamping around.
