Portland House children, staff, parents and grandparents celebrated the birth date of Scotland’s national bard Robbie Burns on Tuesday with a Scottish themed day at the nursery. The main highlight was a special bagpipe performance by a Scottish Bagpiper. The children danced the ceilidh, tasted haggis and neeps, and listened to the Scottish poem " The Sare Finger" read out by a child's grandparent. Staff wore Tartan sashes and a number of children arrived in traditional kilts.
Julie Lister the nursery manager explains” We have a number of children with Scottish heritage attending the nursery and this is a fun way of celebrating some of the wonderful traditions we have here in the UK and to learn more about Scotland . We were lucky enough to have the Examiner take a photo so keep a look out.
