Autumn Explorers

At Portland House in baby room 1 we have been busy learning lots about the world through festive celebrations, charity events and Rhyme Challenges.

This month we used lots of light play during Diwali to simulate our sensors and creating a fun way to celebrate the festive of lights.

Our 5 Rhyme Challenge was a big success and all the children were very familiar with the rhymes by the end of the week, Jack and Jill was one in particular that we didn't used to sing that often before our rhyme challenge, but has now become a firm favourite and the older babies love doing the 'tumbling down after' action especially.

We also celebrated Children in Need and a big thank you to everyone who participated in the dress up and raffle. The children had lots of fun making Pudsey playdough and making a Pudsey bear out of leaves in the forest.

We have also been very interested in animal stories this month especially jungle animals and pets, we hope to continue on this and maybe expand to other animals such as sea life and winter animals as the weather turns colder and we can start exploring snow and ice play.
