The Holy Commute

A group of the Bluebells children at Portland House very much enjoyed a special outing to visit a church within the local community, which recently celebrated 100 years in September 2015.

We took a bus ride on public transport up to Outlane Methodist Church where we were warmly greeted by Rev. Deborah Hopkinson who is also a parent at Portland House Nursery. She began by telling the children the Christmas story using nativity puppets and all about baby Jesus after which the children got a chance to play with the nativity puppets and have a go at re-enacting the story for themselves.

Then the children had the fabulous opportunity to explore the church, looking at the beautiful stain glass windows, the lovely nativity scene and all the Christmas decorations. They particularly enjoyed taking turns making wonderful musical sounds on the big church organ.

We would like to say a big Thank you to Rev. Deborah Hopkinson for helping to organise this interesting educational visit for the Bluebells and taking the time to show us around her church; we hope to visit again soon in the New Year.
