The Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) is the regulatory and quality framework introduced by the Government for the provision of care and education for children between birth and the academic year in which they turn five (0-5). All childcare providers are required to follow this framework.
This framework is to enable all children to play and learn in a fun environment with adults who understand and care about them, ensuring that each individual child is learning through high quality play that is tailored towards their needs.
This enables each child to develop at their own pace; have fun; make friends learning while they play and becoming a confident child who, when the time comes is well prepared for school.
Each child will receive a ‘My Learning Journey’ journal when they start nursery which will record your child’s development through observations; creative work; activities and photographs of your child at play. This follows the Practice Guidance for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

“All providers are required to use the Early Years Foundation Stage to ensure that whatever setting parents choose, they can be confident that their child will receive a quality experience that supports their development and learning.” (DCSF, 2008)
