Wildlife Walk

The babies at Oakwood House have recently been on a walk to the duck pond in Lindley.

The children enjoyed walking up to the pond, waving to all the people that passed us by!

When we arrived at the duck pond the children loved feeding the ducks some oats Ross the cook gave us from the kitchen. It’s really important not to feed the ducks bread. Uneaten soggy bread can cause a build-up of bad nutrients which can lead to greater algae growth, spread disease and encourage pests such as rats. The canal and river trust had a campaign last year please visit for more information. https://canalrivertrust.org.uk/about-us/our-campaigns/keeping-our-ducks-healthy

The children got very excited when the ducks and pigeons came to see them, there were lots of smiley faces and giggles. Some of the children even managed to say “duck” and “bird”.
