Oakwood House Nursery has once again been awarded the top Food Standards Agency rating of 5 for the highest standard of food hygiene and well managed food preparation from Kirklees Council. Portland House Nursery has also been awarded the top rating of 5.
Our menu changes with the seasons and is packed with fresh fruit and vegetable and high quality meat and fish. Parents, staff and children are all encouraged to be involved in the development of each new menu. We cater for special diets and can adapt the menu to meet the needs of each individual child.
We are currently taking part in The Soil Association’s Food for Life Early Years Award which is an independent endorsement for early years settings that serve good quality, nutritious food and support the babies and children in their care to develop good eating habits for life. Evidence shows that eating habits form early, and good nutrition plays a crucial role in a child’s growth and cognitive development.
Samantha Richmond, nursery manager said “The menu is designed to ensure it contains essential vitamins and minerals and combined with the opportunities for outdoor play we provide the key ingredients for the healthy development of the young children in our care. We use local suppliers to ensure freshness and to support local business.”
