Parent & Child Yoga Workshop

Oakwood House pre-school children, staff and parents recently enjoyed a Parent and Child Yoga workshop. This was a fun, creative approach to yoga that encouraged the children to explore and discover the mind and body through yoga play. The use of animated poses, story-telling and interactive games helped the children with their concentration and focus, stimulated their imagination and helped to release energy in a fun, safe environment.

We all enjoyed it so much that it is going to become a monthly event! This is a perfect opportunity for parents, carers and their children to have fun and practice yoga together. Think ‘meowing’ and ‘mooing’ in Cat Cow posture and barking in Downdog!

Yoga promotes inner strength, confidence and self-esteem; a feeling of well-being and respect for others; and love for one’s self, inside and out. Yoga also contributes to the core principles set out for the Early Years Foundation Stage.

• Healthy and strong body • Improved posture • Strength and flexibility • Stability and balance • Coordination …in a nut shell, yoga makes you smile from inside out!
