Healthy Eating Activities

At Oakwood House our younger pre-school room have been looking at and discussing healthy eating. As part of our Food for Life Award we are looking at lots of healthy options and what we can grow in our garden.

Whilst preparing to make our own fruit salad we sorted the fruit in order of size and then from lightest to heaviest?

We have made our own fruit salad which we ate at tea time. We looked at the colours, textures and smells of each fruit, and all the children had a turn at cutting the fruit up by themselves. We then put our peelings into a bag and took them outside to our compost bin.

We have been reading the book Handa’s Surprise by Eileen Browne and talked about Africa and all the fruits and animals that appear in the book. All the children loved getting involved with the story.
